Darn! Perth User Group presentations this week postponed.. )c:

Unfortunately, I am unable to deliver two planned User Group presentations in Perth this week due to an emergency customer issue at work that began last night & has still not been resolved today.

I would like to apologise to everyone who had planned to attend these two sessions today & tomorrow but I am working with the User Group organisers to try & re-schedule the events for the first available dates sometime in the coming two weeks.

The issue I'm dealing with today involves a 32bit SQL2000 upgrade to 63bit SQL2005 that has not gone smoothly due to hardware issues. The project has otherwise been well planned & executed but the new prod server's storage collapsed as heavy load was taken up over the past two days. The infrastructure support team hadn't enabled controller caching (!!)but somehow the tlog was corrupted when they turned it on early this morning. This customer's whole business is delivered through their website in the US, so it's critical that I remain in Melbourne to work with our team to resolve the issue. Whilst they're successfully operating in a contingency status at the moment, I really need to help them get through this issue today, so I hope y'all understand.

I hope we can organise the two sessions for next week, as these are two very interesting topic (I think so at least!), tailored specifically for developer & dba perspectives on database indexing issues.

Thanks for your understanding & I hope we'll do these sessions very soon.
